John Lennon and Yoko Ono had a “nude” period where they thought there was something honest or liberating about appearing publicly naked. Whatever their reasons it has made it possible to make a fairly accurate assessment of John’s somatotype. John Lennon is a mid-range ectomorphic mesomorph which means he is primarily a mesomorph but with a strong ectomorphic component. His somaotype is 2½,4½,4½

Although there are no written tests that are 100% compatible with somatotype, the D-I-S-C inventories are generally in range of what a somatotype would predict. This is one of the best locations I’ve found for this information. Axiom Sofware’s Description of D-I-S-C Personalities When you link to the site check the following boxes for John Lennon’s type: High Influence with Dominance.
1. I = Influence (Moderately High)

Additional Comments: John Lennon is fairly mesomorphic as evidenced by his Trunk Index of 1.65. But he seems to have spent little time building up his muscles probably because he was so absorbed by his music. However, there is an Andro-Gynic (male-female) dimension to physique development that may explain his lack of muscular definition.
There is a lot of discussion about who was the real leader in the Beatles. It would appear that Paul was more diplomatic and therefore better suited to leadership than John who had to deal with his tendency to dominate and his lack of endomorphic sensitivity to peoples comfort. Needless to say the combination generated a unique blend of mesomorphic/ectomorphic edginess (John) and creative melodic beauty (Paul).
His personality from a MBTI perspective has aspects of both ESTP and ENTJ.
